How Logan & I Started Dating...
OUR LOVE STORY: February 23, 2022
Exactly three years ago today, Logan and I went on our first date, so I thought it would be fun to walk down Memory Lane and spill the tea on how it all went down.
And let me preface, it's not a short story. It wasn't like we met one night, went on a date and lived happily ever after. It's a lotta heartbreak! Alrighty, let's begin, shall we...
We're going all the way back to 2017. I was the nights DJ at K92, so my show ended at midnight. Logan got off work at 11:30 p.m. and was on his way home when he heard my voice on the radio for the first time. I guess I said my name, because he looked me up and found me on Twitter. I remember so clearly the next morning getting the notification that some guy named Logan Sherrill had followed me on Twitter. I was sitting in bed and saw his profile picture and thought he was so cute. Of course, I followed back. Pretty soon, we were followers on Instagram and friends on Facebook. Nothing happened, because he had a girlfriend. (Isn't that always how it goes? Cute guy...taken.)
We didn't officially meet until after I had graduated college and was applying for TV jobs in the summer of 2018. I had an interview at WDBJ7 and was SO hoping I would get to meet Logan while I was there. We had kept up with each other on social media for over a year, but we had never officially met. I was getting a tour of the station and saw Logan walking toward me. The news director introduced us, and we shook hands. I word-vomited, "I feel like I already know you because we follow each other on social media!" Then, Logan said, "So, you wanna be on TV?!" Later on, we discussed this pivotal moment and realized we were BOTH extremely nervous about meeting each other. Like, we both spent the day thinking about what we should have said, was what we said dumb?, etc.
*Spoiler alert* I did not get the job at WDBJ. And I am so glad I didn't. The Lord knew what He was doing. We would never have started dating if we worked together.
Fast forward now to February 2019. Told you it's a long story.
Logan had a cold and was posting about it on his Instagram story. I had noticed that he hadn't posted pictures with his girlfriend in awhile ;) soooooo I slid in his DM's to tell him his cold made him sound like Bradley Cooper from "A Star is Born." We DM'd back and forth, and he finally got my number and asked me out.
Y'all, I was so excited. I had crushed on him for two years now, and it was finally happening!
I lived in Lynchburg, so he drove in from Roanoke on February 23, 2019. I was Facetiming my best friend, Emily, and as soon as the doorbell rang, I screamed and hung up the call. I opened the door and there stood Logan Sherrill in the flesh. He drove us to Isabella's for pre-dinner appetizers. He had been talking about his love of oysters for weeks, and I told him I'd never had any. *cue me eating an oyster* Then, we went to RA Bistro for dinner. I was so nervous I only ate half my food. After dinner, I had him drop me off at RedBox, and I grabbed "Bohemian Rhapsody." We'd been talking about it for a few weeks, and I'd already seen it like three times. The date was great, and he headed back to the Noke that night.
Over the next few weeks, we went out a few more times. I would go to Roanoke, or he came to Lynchburg. It was going fantastic! So I thought. Late in March, I started feeling like he was pulling away. Longer time between texts, short responses...y'all know what I'm talking about it. Something was up.
On Friday, March 22, Logan was supposed to be coming to Lynchburg that night. At 2:20 p.m., as I had just left the store after picking up groceries for our weekend ahead, I got the text: "You have a min to chat?" I knew he wasn't coming that night.
